Executive/Stated Clerk/Treasurer

John V. Winings has been an elder since 1978, ordained in the
Youngstown Presbyterian Church (UPC) in Youngstown, NY. Raised
in Illinois and graduating from the University of Illinois with BS and
MS degrees in science and business, John worked for 25 years in
Occidental Petroleum and the BOC Group, PLC. Since
1990, he has worked as a change executive in small businesses for
venture capital firms to assist companies in stress — each a full

Additionally, he is a charter member and first clerk of session of the
Wake Forest Presbyterian Church in Wake Forest, NC, one of the 100
fastest growing churches in the denomination. From
1995 to 1999 John served on the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic Council —
as Chair of the Campus Ministries Committee and then as Chair of the
Administration and Personnel Committee. He
is also a Commissioned Lay Pastor (CLP) of New Hope Presbytery.
In 1999, John left his Synod assignment to take a half-time commission
to the Butner Presbyterian church as its pastor, serving in this
church for three years. He
was then commissioned to the Clayton, NC new church development where
he served as organizing pastor (half time) until the church was
financially able to call a full time minister of word and sacrament. particular
churches — one a redevelopment church and the other a new church
development.
Currently,
he is the Executive Director of the Haiti Fund, Inc., a validated
ministry of the Presbytery of New Hope, which supplies material and
support for an agricultural sustainable development project in Haiti
called CODEP, with two missionaries on site.
Concurrent with the Haiti Fund assignment, he was called as
(1/2 time) as the Interim Youth Director of WFPC — a one year
